Gina MacLeod was born in London and moved to Scotland when she was 8 years old. With a strong musical heritage she started singing at a young age inspired by such greats as Judy Garland and Francoise Hardy. In secondary school she studied singing and developed a keen interest in opera. She eventually moved towards more contemporary song and has been lucky enough to make some wonderful songwriting and musician friends along the way. With a solid musical heritage, her father and grandfather were well known composers for the bagpipes, not to mention notable players themselves. "Conundrum, "Dora MacLeod" and "John Morrision of Assynt House", those well known tunes played all over the world, were composed by her grandfather and are sound favourites amongst the traditional players of the world.

Encouraged to branch out on her own "A Song Journey" was born in 2000 debuting at The Taybank in the beautiful village of Dunkeld in Perthshire. Incorporating a mix of classical, folk and contemporary song audiences were taken on an intimate and emotional journey of beautiful songs from the past and present. Gina has also provided backing vocals for Dougie MacLean at Celtic Connections and other prestigious venues around Scotland and was invited to perform at the opening of Perth Concert Hall in September 2005. This offered the amazing opportunity to perform with Trilok Gurtu, the world class virtuoso percussionist from India and his prestigious band and Mridula Desai (the much acclaimed vocalist from India).

Now a solid team member of the Perthshire Amber Music Festival, founded by Dougie MacLean, Gina and her musical partner, Alan Jordan, have gathered a loyal fan base hosting the Festival’s Cabaret Amber early evening music showcase. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, this Festival takes place over ten days at various venues around Perthshire and has given Gina the opportunity to make some wonderful friends and to work with some very talented musicians, not to mention one off performances with some of the Festival’s performers such as Elaine C Smith and Benny Gallagher of Gallagher and Lyle fame!

Her first album "Butterfly Days", featuring the wonderful songs of Alan Jordan, was released in 2009 and in 2013 was followed up with "Silver Sole", a joint venture with Alan. Both albums include a host of fine musicians sprinkling their magic on the wonderful songs of Alan Jordan.
