Gina MacLeod was born in London and moved to Scotland when she was 8 years old. With a strong musical heritage she started singing at a young age inspired by such greats as Judy Garland and Francoise Hardy.

In secondary school she studied singing and developed a keen interest in opera. Considered a versatile singer covering a wide range of styles, she moved towards contemporary song and has been lucky enough to make some wonderful songwriting and musician friends along the way.

With a solid musical heritage her father and grandfather were well known composers for the bagpipes not to mention notable players themselves. Conundrum, that well known tune played all over the world and John Morrison of Assynt House, were composed by her grandfather and are sound favourites amongst the traditional players of the world.

In addition to providing backing vocals for Dougie MacLean at Celtic Connections and other prestigious venues around Scotland, Gina was invited to perform at the opening of Perth Concert Hall in September 2005. This offered the amazing opportunity to perform with Trilok Gurtu, the world class virtuoso percussionist from India and his amazing band and Mridula Desai (the much acclaimed vocalist from India).

As past Gold Medal winner at Perth Music Festival classical singing is never far from her heart. Encouraged to branch out on her own "A Song Journey" was born in 2000 debuting at The Taybank in the beautiful village of Dunkeld in Perthshire. Incorporating a mix of classical, folk and contemporary song audiences were taken on an intimate and emotional journey of beautiful songs from the past and present.

Now a solid member of the Perthshire Amber Music Festival team both off and on stage Gina and her musical partner Alan Jordan have gathered a fan base for their Cabaret Amber early evening slots at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Highlights over the last few years have included one off performances with Elaine C Smith and Benny Gallagher of Gallagher and Lyle fame!

Her first album "Butterfly Days", featuring the wonderful songs of Alan Jordan, was recently completed and is now available for purchase for those enthusiasts of simply beautiful music.
